This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to be involved in the delivery of a Wales-Ireland Interreg 4 a funded project. The Royal Commission, as the lead partner, has been awarded funding by the European Regional Development Fund, to implement the “Metal Links – Forging Communities together” Project.
The Metal Links partnership aims to bring together communities from Ireland and Wales that share a common historical link through the exploitation of metal ore. The main aims of the project are to develop and promote socially inclusive opportunities for the sustainable regeneration of formal metal-mining communities; to promote and encourage new cultural and educational links based on mining, archaeology, geology and cultural heritage and to share new ways of telling the ‘story’ of mining areas and hinterlands with the view towards a unique tourism product that contributes towards economic regeneration.
The principal duty of these posts is to engage with community groups in the establishment and promotion of a range of initiatives relating to the archaeology (all periods) of former metal mining areas.
You will be qualified up to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject or have related experience at an appropriate level. You will have experience of engaging and working with community groups; developing, managing and implementing projects and have experience of promoting and publicising activities and events, including the use of latest technological developments such as blogs, facebook etc. You will also hold a full UK driving licence.
It is essential that one of the two post holders is able to communicate in Welsh.
