Digital Past 2015 will be showcasing an innovative crowd sourcing project undertaken by the Llŷn Archaeology and History Society. The society was founded in 2013 and aims to become a model for a virtual society, one that combines the traditional values of county societies with new technologies and a focus on engaging wider audiences.
Simon Jones and Jamie Davies will be speaking about a project undertaken in 2014 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Royal Commission publication Caernarvonshire: West III: An inventory of the Ancient Monuments in the County. A website based on the publication has been developed and contains original digitized site records, plans and notes against which residents or visitors to the Llŷn can add comments and upload photographs to provide an updated snapshot of the Peninsula’s archaeological and built heritage today.
