David Gwyn was the first winner of the award in 2009, but the judges unanimously agreed that Welsh Slate could not be passed over. On hearing the news, David said:
‘I am delighted to have been awarded the Peter Neaverson prize for Welsh Slate. This award reflects the high standard of editing and production which is a hall-mark of publications by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historic Monuments of Wales.’
He will be presented with the award at the Association for Industrial Archaeology annual conference this September.
David is also speaking about the Welsh slate industry on behalf of the Royal Commission at the Hay Festival on Thursday 2 June.
